MP, Maharashtra top groups after easy wins

Visakhapatnam: Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra topped the Pool G and H respectively as the league phase of the 13th senior Naitonal women’s hockey championship came to an end at the DSA ground, Kakinada on Wednesday. Maharashtra trounced Tamil Nadu 8-0 and MP defeated Delhi 7-1. Puducherry beat Andaman and Nicobar 12-0 for their only win Pn pool H. Manipur blanked Telangana 13-0 in Pool G .

Archery team for inter-dist meet
An eight-member team would represent the combined Visakhapatnam and ASR districts in the senior inter-district archery championship.
Team: Men (Indian round): G Biragi Naidu, IKSK Kumar Naidu, S Desaiah A. Prasanth Reddy, N Ashok Kumar and K Upendra. Recurve: S Sambasiva. Women (Indian round): K Bharathi.
Skaters congratulated
M Tejaswani and M Vishal Anand of Andhra Medial College won bronze medals in the roller hockey inline and artistic freestyle events respectively in the all-India inter-university roller-skating tournament held at AU recently. Principal G Butchi Raju and others congratulated them. Students of Dr L Bullayya college won several medals for AU. S Ukta won gold and silver in the hockey, T Shanmukha Rakesh claimed skateboarding gold, B Ashritha won salome freestyle silver while Ch V Pavan Karthikeya and D Venuvardhan won bronze medals in the skateboarding and artistic free skating events.
