RAJAHMUNDRY: A woman was arrested for allegedly giving a supari of 1.30 lakh to kill her own son. The incident was reported from Biccavole in East Godavari district. The man, however, survived the attack. Besides the woman, police arrested three other persons for their involvement in the crime.
Biccavole police station sub-inspector Bujji Babu said main accused Kanaka Durga, from Karapa mandal in Kakinada district, hired a contract killer to kill her son, Veera Venkata Siva Prasad, as she was fed up with his harassment.
Siva Prasad, who is married and works as a driver, has been staying with his mother after developing differences with his wife.
A chronic alcoholic, he would come home drunk and beat his mother. Vexed by his harassment, she decided to eliminate him and handed over the task to her distant relative, identified as Yedukondalu.
Yedukondalu in turn held talks with one Veera Venkata Satyannarayana, who demanded 1.50 lakh to kill Siva Prasad. Kanaka Durga agreed to pay 1.30 lakh, following which Satyannarayana and another person, identified as Bolem Vamsikrishna, hatched a plan to eliminate Siva Prasad on the outskirts of Biccavole.
They attacked Satyannarayana with an iron road and left presuming him to be dead. But, a railway gangman found him fighting for life and shifted him to the GGH in Kakinada. Police, during questioning, zeroed in on Kanaka Durga and she confessed to the crime.
