VIZIANAGARAM: Several areas within Vizianagaram district, including Bobbili and Saluru towns, as well as Rambabhadrapuram, Makkuva, Pachipenta, and neighboring regions near Parvathipuram, experienced mild tremors of 3.4 magnitude on Wednesday.
The tremors weren't confined to Vizianagaram district and the Parvathipuram Manyam area; they were also felt in certain parts of the Andhra-Odisha Border regions, encompassing the Kotia group of villages.
There were no reports of casualties or property damage in any of these locations. However, the unexpected tremors triggered panic in some areas, prompting residents to hastily vacate their homes.
As reported by the National Center for Seismology, the tremors occurred at 2.12pm and originated from a depth of 10km within the Parvathipuram Manyam district.
G Gupta, a resident of Saluru, described the experience, stating, "We felt the tremors for around 20 seconds, during which glasses and utensils on our tables fell to the ground. We reached out to our relatives in nearby towns, but they reported not having noticed the tremors at all."
