Visakhapatnam: The maritime wing of Visakha Museum was re-dedicated to the people of the Port City by Eastern Naval Command chief vice-admiral Satish Soni on Saturday.

Visakha Maritime Museum was set up in 2004 at Beach Road to provide information on India's maritime heritage. The maritime wing of the museum was renovated jointly by ENC and GVMC with the addition of several new artefacts to the existing inventory.

INS Sumedha and INS Kamorta

, along with Indian naval sailing vessels Sudarshini, Mhadei and HMS Trincomalee were added. In addition, a model of the latest Scorpene class submarine Kalveri is also on display. The aviation section has been given a totally new appearance with the addition of aircraft models like Chetak, Kamov and others.

The other significant changes include the new entrance with aqua theme corridor and the latest collection of maritime souvenirs received from Union ministry of external affairs.
