Maoists confirm death of central committee member Ramanna

VISAKHAPATNAM: CPI Maoists confirmed the death of their central committee member and Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) secretary Ravula Srinivas alias Ramanna on Saturday through an audio release. The leader belonged to Telangana cadre in the Maoists party.
The death news of Maoist leader Ramanna, that he had suffered a severe cardiac arrest, took rounds in the air for the past six days. But there was no official confirmation from the Maoists till the date.
Maoists released audio on the name of Maoist leader Vikalp on Saturday. The audio said that Ramanna died of serious health problem on December 7. Vikalp said that the Maoists party paid tributes to the great leader who waged war against the state and supported the poor and downtrodden people.
Ramanna, who had joined Maoists outfit the then People’s War Group (PWG) in early 80s, was shifted to Dandakaranya in late 80s. He took the reins of DKSZC nine years ago. His wife Savitri and son Ranjit are also in the Maoists rank and file.
