Man gets 7-yr RI for wife’s suicide

Visakhapatnam: A court in Vizianagaram on Monday sentenced a man to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for abetting his wife’s suicide. The woman’s family had alleged that her husband used to physically assault her for additional dowry. Unable to withstand the assaults, O Deepti commited self-immolation on April 29, 2018. An FIR was lodged against Deepti’s husband B Ramakrishna at One Town police station in Vizianagaram town. Judge Shaik Sikandar Basha sentenced the accused to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of 10,000 on him. TNN
