VISAKHAPATNAM: Parvathipuram Manyam district police arrested a 36-year-old man for impersonating as IPS officer during the deputy chief minister K Pawan Kalyan’s recent visit to Parvathipuram Manyam district.
The impersonator has been B Surya Prakash, a native of Garividi locality in Vizianagaram district. Surya Prakash had informed his villagers that he was selected as an IPS officer a year ago and assumed office as ASP and claimed his presence during the Pawan Kalyan’s visit to Parvathipuram Manyam district was part of his job on Dec 20.
Surya Prakash neither met Pawan Kalyan nor escorted the minister's convoy during the minister's visit. The imposter wore a police officer uniform and came to the parking area of the meeting of the minister on Dec 20. He interacted with a couple of police personnel at the spot.
Assuming that Surya Prakash is the real police officer, the police personnel at the parking lot took photographs with the imposters. The police said the imposter left the place even before the conclusion of Pawan Kalyan’s visit.
Later, Surya Prakash uploaded the photos of him with other police personnel during the minister's visit as WhatsApp status. However, someone noticed the WhatsApp status of Surya Prakash and informed the police that Surya Prakash is a fake cop.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that Surya Prakash worked as Army Sepoy for a few years, later he executed some works as civil contractor and also worked as outsourcing employee with the legal metrology department. A property dispute between Surya Prakash’s family and others was the reason for Surya Prakash impersonating as a police officer to gain in the property dispute by threatening others.
