Lab to check illicit liquor opens

Visakhapatnam: YSRCP regional coordinator YV Subba Reddy, along with deputy CM and prohibition and excise minister K Narayana Swamy, industries minister Gudivada Amarnath, and Bheemili MLA Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, laid the foundation stone for the excise complex to be built at estimated cost of 20 crore in Gorinta village in Anandapuram mandal here on Thursday. He along with ministers also inaugurated the modernised regional laboratory to check illicit liquor, arrack, ganja, and narcotic drugs. TNN

Illicit liquor worth lakhs seized in Jhabua

Police in Indore seized illicit liquor worth lakhs of rupees being transported in a mini truck. They intercepted a vehicle during a checking operation and found 1200 crates of beer valued at approximately Rs 34 lakh. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the operation. Jhabua, being on the MP-Gujarat border, is known for illegal liquor activities. In other news, police in Chandigarh arrested five bootleggers and seized various types of liquor, while the Nashik food and drugs administration seized sweets and food packets that did not adhere to storage rules. The Malegaon police conducted raids and seized gutka worth Rs 1.7 lakh.

PHED minister lays foundation stone for 3 water projects in Jaipur

The Public Health and Engineering Department minister in Jaipur, Mahesh Joshi, has laid the foundation stone for three water supply schemes worth Rs 130 crore. These schemes were announced in the budget for this financial year. They include projects for renovation of pump houses and construction of new high reservoirs in different areas of Jaipur. In other news, drinking water schemes have been inaugurated in Chennai and Lucknow, benefiting thousands of individuals. Additionally, the Rajasthan Water Supply and Sewerage Management Board has approved drinking water projects worth Rs 1,100 crore.
