Visakhapatnam: The auction of players for the Andhra Premier League (APL) 2 witnessed an overwhelming response with more than 580 players going under the hammer in the official pool on Tuesday. Of these, 120 players were drafted into the six competing teams.
APL 2 is scheduled to run from August 16 to 27.
A total of Rs 1.8 crore was spent by the franchises to acquire players.
Rayalaseema Kings acquired
Hanuma Vihari for the highest bid of Rs 6.6 lakh.
Godavari Titans purchased M Dheeraj Kumar for Rs 5.2 lakh. Uttarandhra Lions got Y Prithviraj, SV Rahul and Y Vasu for Rs 5 lakh each while Vizag Warriors got K Ashwin Hebbar for Rs 5.1 lakh.
Bezwada Tigers retained Ricky Bui for Rs 8.1 lakh while Uttarandhra Lions retained KS Bharat for Rs 6 lakh. Rayalaseema Kings retained Girinath Reddy (Rs 6.1 lakh), Abhishek Reddy (Rs 3 lakh), Coastal Riders retained Ch Stephen (Rs 4.5 lakh) and M Lekhaz Reddy (Rs 4.5 lakh).
