JEE Advanced 2nd ranker beats brother’s rank from last year
VISAKHAPATNAM: Having set a goal to outperform his brother is what landed Polu Lakshmi Sai Lohith Reddy in the second rank in the JEE Advanced-2022, the results of which were declared on Sunday. His brother, Lokesh Reddy, who is currently pursuing computer science engineering at IIT Bombay, was the All India fifth ranker in the JEE Advanced 2021. Lohith secured the first rank in the Telangana EAMCET-2022, and stood second in the APEAMCET (APEAPCET-2022).
P Karthikeya (AIR 6), who belongs to a small farming family, started working his way to become an IITian as early as when he was 11.
Hailing from a lower middle-class background, Vetcha Gnana Mahesh (AIR 10) from Visakhapatnam had to overcome several odds to crack the exam with flying colours. The awareness created by his parents on competitive exam structure from a tender age helped Vangapalli Sai Siddhartha (AIR 4) aim high.
Lohith Reddy (AIR 2) said that his father Malyadri Reddy and mother Lakshmikantha, both being government teachers in Prakasam district, contributed their best to make him emerge successful in the exam. “My brother also shared the tips to bag the top rank. I had wanted to get a better rank than my brother, who got AIR 5 in the JEE Advanced 2021, and finally it became a reality,” said Lohith Reddy.
V Venkata Subba Rao, who originally hails from Prakasam district and is working as an executive engineer with APGenco in Nellore, said that as an engineering graduate himself from Andhra University, he has oriented Sai Siddhartha (AIR 4) towards JEE examination. “He scored 23rd rank in the APEAPCET. It is his inclination towards studies that helped him sweep his way to the echelons of the exam. We could only provide financial, physical and moral support,” said Subba Rao.
Polisetty Karthikeya (AIR 6), a native of Kazipet near Tenali of Guntur district, said that his father, Koteswara Rao, a farmer, always dreamed big for him. “He wanted to see me as a top engineer. His hard work, perseverance and emotional resilience as a farmer made me learn several life lessons,” Karthikeya.
V Gnana Mahesh (AIR 10) from Vizag said that his parents, V Rama Rao and Jhansi Lakshmi, created a conducive environment for his studies during the Covid-19 lockdown. “They sacrificed several things for my studies, including TV time during my study hours,” said Mahesh.
