Jagan promises graft-free government, sets out blueprint

of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

Speaking before a large audience which included Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and DMK chief M K Stalin, he promised a corruption-free and transparent administration, a judicial commission to review every government tender, and a call centre in the chief minister’s office to redress people’s grievances.

Governor ESL Narasimhan administered the oath to Jagan even as thousands of supporters cheered him at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium grounds in Vijayawada.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi besides others congratulated him on becoming chief minister.

Immediately after administering the oath, the Governor left the venue and Jagan addressed the gathering. He also approved an increase in pension to senior citizens, from the present Rs 2,000 per month to Rs 2,250 per month. He promised to increase the pension by Rs 250 every year and thus would reach Rs 3,000 a month in the fourth year.

He also promised to recruit four lakh village volunteers by August 15 to assist people in getting government benefits. The volunteers would be recruited on a monthly consolidated payment of Rs 5,000. Each volunteer would take care of 50 families in a village. Jagan promised to set up a call centre in the chief minister’s office by August 15 and asked people to call the number if they have a complaint or grievance.
