VISAKHAPATNAM: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) commissioner MV Satyanarayana on Tuesday announced that a third party agency would be appointed to review the civic body's existing trade licence system.
Interacting with health assistants here on Tuesday, the civic chief said that the health officials had failed to respond to his instructions that were given a month ago on the preparation of data of commercial establishments which have trade licenses.

According to the civic rules, a commercial establishment must take a trade license from GVMC by clearing all official formalities.
But, there are allegations that some commercial establishments are illegally engaging in business without having a proper trade licenses by managing some civic staff, the civic chief pointed out. He said that the corporation would soon examine the status of existing trade licenses to weed out irregularities.
On the other hand, the civic chief told the GVMC biologist to ensure that the anti-larval operations are conducted in the city without fail. GVMC promoted some senior assistant cadre officials of public health department to sanitary inspectors and appointed them at Ward 33 and 34, but it failed to yield any result.
The civic chief directed chief medical officer Satyanarayana Raju to look into the matter. Earlier, the commissioner visited wards number 19, 20 and 27 to study the sanitary condition of areas like Ramnagar, Nehru Nagar, Daspalla Hills, Krishna Nagar, Maharanipeta and Pandimetta.
