Srikanth and Pratiksha, who belong to Uravakonda in Anantapur district, wanted to go on a spiritual tour in Karnataka and decided to drop their two-year-old son Deivika with their parents in Anantapur. Later, they left for Karnataka to visit prominent temples. They reached Dharmasthala temple and completed the darshan on Saturday.

While they were en route to Sringeri, a speeding private travels bus rammed into their car near Karkala police station limits in Udupi district. Srikanth, Pratiksha and Gamya were killed on the spot. Udupi district police registered a case and shifted the bodies to local government hospital for postmortem.
