Visakhapatnam: Various organisations including educational institutions as well as human rights forums observed the International Human Rights Day in the city on Thursday.
Large number of students of Damodaram Sanjeevayya National Law University took out a rally from the college premises at MVP Colony to the Beach Road via Ushodaya Junction as part of the celebrations.

The students displayed various placards highlighting the importance of human rights to the public. In-charge vice-chancellor Prof GSN Raju flagged off the rally from the varsity premises.
Meanwhile, Vikasa Dhatri in association with Youth for Human Rights India and School Radio organised a workshop for students of BVK School at Visalakshinagar in the city. Vikasa Dhatri co-founder Gali Aruna highlighted the importance of the universal declaration of human rights, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly after the Second World War. She elaborated on the responsibility of citizens to protect human rights of the underprivileged. "If we are responsible, there won't be any issue in the society and in the lives of people. Our rights and our freedoms always is the theme of this year's Human Rights Day," she said.
The Human Rights Day was also observed by Dr BR Ambedkar College of Law, Andhra University, here on Thursday. AU registrar V Uma Maheswara Rao participated as chief guest on the occasion. Rao underlined the importance of human relationships and responsibilities for development of a society. College principal A Subrahmanyam presided over the meeting.
