But as they progressed, the youngsters opted for developing an idea for digital marketing that is more efficient than the conventional resources. Initially, they had named the product 'Page for promotion', but later renamed it as 'Togero'.
Speaking to TOI, CEO and co-founder V Sai Mohini said, "We are working on a digital marketing tool for advertisers and fan pages on Facebook. We have developed a web application which creates a platform for advertisers and fan pages on Facebook to tap a focused segment of customers unlike other digital marketing activities which are currently in use."
Elaborating, she said, "Let us say, a watch company wants to launch and promote a new line of watches. The company can register on our web applications, from which they can select a list of fan pages which are related to watches and advertise their product on those particular Facebook pages." Sai Mohini said, "On an average, an user clicks one out of 2,000 advertisements seen on the internet, which is around 0.051 per cent. However, Togero will help increase this to around 2 per cent."
She said, "The advantage is that through our concept, companies have a higher potential of reaching their target customers as compared to conventional methods of marketing." Explaining the revenue model, she said, "For every advertisement that is placed by advertisers, we pay around 70 per cent to the fan page owner and 30 per cent is our share."
Co-founder and chief technology officer, Y Sai Prakash said, "We have already developed the web application and are planning to launch an app also in the next two months. Initially, we are looking at fan pages with around 200 likes, but later on, intend to place a benchmark of around 500 likes for each page to be listed with us."

Pointing out that the company is looking at the global market, he said, "Online advertising has taken off in countries such as the US. So our idea is to scale up abroad too as part of our expansion plan."
Mentioning that they had funded the startup on their own, he said, "Once we gain traction, we will be pitching our product to potential investors."
