GVMC drive against spread of seasonal diseases
Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has decided to implement its seasonal disease
GVMC commissioner M Hari Narayanan chaired a meeting with zonal commissioners, health officials, sanitary inspectors in the commissionerate on Saturday.
Surveillance activities and fogging, spraying and mass campaign activities will be given special attention during the drive. The officials will identify disease-prone areas and areas where there is water stagnation to prevent breeding of mosquitoes and subsequent dengue and malaria. The officials were also directed to impose penalties on those who resort to garbage dumping in open places and vacant land.
Hari Narayanan also informed that they will collect door-to-door garbage from 100% households from February 24.
