GVMC approves works worth 25 crore

Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation standing committee, in a meeting on Friday, approved developmental works worth 25 crore.
The committee gave its approval for 141 works. While the agenda copy listed 80 works, the table agenda added 61 more items, totalling to 141. About 20 lakh bill was prepared for each zone as wages of workers employed during the recent strike of sanitary staff.
Meanwhile, the civic body has made all arrangements for the final competitions of ‘Aadudam Andhra’ tournament. The finals of various sporting events will be conducted between Feb 9 and 13 in Visakhapatnam. GVMC additional commissioner K S Viswanathan inspected the arrangements at the Andhra Medical College grounds, and said the city will host all the sportspersons coming from across the state for the final events. “We should make foolproof arrangements and provide the best of hospitality to the players. Signboards and hoardings should be set up at various places to help and assist players,” said Viswanathan. Separate arrangements have been made for women players at the Andhra University women’s hostel.
