Gowtham bowls North to big win

Visakhapatnam: Left-spinner K Gowtham Arya claimed eight wickets to bowl North zone to an innings and 35-run win over South in a two-day league match of the ACA U-14 inter-zone tournament in Perecharla on Thursday.Brief scores: North zone 362 in 80.2 overs (P Vinod 100, Charan Tej 64, V. Kranthi Kumar 51; T Kiran Kumar 4/54) bt South zone 132 in 46.1 overs (KV Omkar 53; P Sri Prakyath Varma 4/15) & 195 in 47.2 overs (M Venkata Rishith 44, Harsha 40; K Gowtham Arya 8/53).Tenzing Norgay award for Chaitanya M Tulasi Chaitanya, a head constable of Andhra Pradesh Police, received the Tenzing Norgay National adventure award from President Droupadi Murmu at the national awards ceremony in Delhi on Tuesday. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh. Spotted by Addl DGP (sports) Rajiv Trivedi, also an accomplished swimmer, Chaitanya was sent for advanced training in swimming in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Chaitanya has swum across the Strait of Gibraltar, Lak Konstanz in Germany, English channel, Zurich Lake, Twenty Bridges of Manhattan, North channel (Ireland to Scotland), Cook and Palk Straits. He won gold, silver and bronze medals in the World police and fire games in Belfast and Los Angeles in 2013 and 2017 apart from many medals in the all-India Police meets. The state and central governments have awarded him 29 increments and a total cash prize of Rs 57 lakh.
