G Srijana set to take over as GVMC commissioner
Visakhapatnam: The state government on Saturday appointed joint collector of Visakhapatnam G Srijana as the commissioner of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation. The outgoing commissioner M Hari Narayanan has been transferred to Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation as an executive director.
A 2011 batch IAS officer, Narayanan earlier served as the project officer of ITDA, Paderu, before assuming charge as the GVMC commissioner in 2016.

It is under his leadership that Visakhapatnam emerged as the third cleanest city in the country. Several Smart City projects were taken up in the last three years and efforts were made to improve the solid waste management, drinking water supply, cleanliness, vector-borne disease control mechanism, revenue inflow, etc.
On the other hand, Srijana, a 2013 batch IAS officer, has been currently serving as the joint collector of Visakhapatnam for nearly three years and is familiar with the city. She would likely take charge on June 24.
