Five persons killed in separate road accidents

Visakhapatnam: Five persons, including three youngsters, were killed in two separate road accidents in Vizag city and Anakapalle district. The accidents happened during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. In the first incident, three youngsters died on the spot after their bike was hit by a heavy vehicle on the NH-16 stretch near Venkojipalem under MVP Colony police station in Vizag city in the wee hours of Friday. The deceased, who were going heading towards Maddilapalem from Yendada, were identified as P Sai, I Durga Prasad, and R Gopi, all below 25 years. While Sai and Gopi were residents of Yendada locality in Vizag city, Durga Prasad was a native of Srikakulam. Police said the bike may have been speeding and as they were triple riding, may have lost control and touched the lorry coming from the opposite direction. Cops didn’t find any major damage to the bike and suspect that the bike’s handle came in contact with a lorry, which led to the bike skidding at high speed, leading to their death on the spot. In another incident, the driver and assistant driver of a mini truck were killed after their cotton-laden vehicle hit a cement-laden lorry near Askpalli junction under Sabbavaram police station limits in Anakapalle district. The mishap led to a traffic jam. The deceased hailed from Bengal.
