Visakhapatnam: Two persons died while five others were hospitalised after they reportedly consumed adulterated toddy near Chitraiputtu village (a tribal hamlet) under Pedabayalu police station limits in Visakhapatnam Agency on Monday.
The deceased were identified as B Chinabullamma (55) and V Bhagavathi (13). B Rambabu, V Nanibabu, B Madhu, B Vishnu Murthi and B Chinnababu are undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Paderu.
According to reports, seven persons from Chitraiputtu village had gone into the forest to collect firewood. While returning from the forest, the group noticed a pot of toddy hanging on a tree. They took it down and consumed it near Ambidi village.
Inspector of Paderu police station, G Prem Kumar said that on returning home, two of the seven people passed away while others were hospitalised. They will be shifted to KG Hospital in Vizag for better care, he added.tnn
