VISAKHAPATNAM: The '
Oxygen Express
' of Indian Railways have geared up the Roll-on-Roll-off (RO-RO) service with seven empty tankers in transporting the medical oxygen required for Covid-19 patients at
Maharashtra from Andhra Pradesh.
The train, which left Mumbai on Monday evening at 8.05pm, will be arriving Vizag on Tuesday to get the medical oxygen from
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant
(VSP). The loaded tankers will be returned back immediately.
A team of
Mumbai Division
has built a ramp overnight within 24 hours at Kalamboli goods yard to facilitate loading and unloading of tankers in and from flat wagons.
This train will move via Vasai Road, Jalgaon, Nagpur, Raipur Junction to Vizag Steel Plant siding in ECoR zone where it will be loaded with Liquid Medical Oxygen.
Railways transported essential commodities and kept the supply chain intact even during the lockdown last year.
