Visakhapatnam:
GVMC Jana Sena corporator P Murthy Yadav
staged a protest with garbage in front of the garbage transfer station near
Lawson’s Bay Colony
on Wednesday.
Murthy, who represents ward 22 of the city in the
GVMC
council, alleged that the civic body is not cleaning the ward and removing silt in the drains.
“There has been an inordinate delay in the desilting works in the ward. There are coordination issues between the GVMC health and mechanical wings. The delay should be viewed as deliberate as Jana Sena has won the ward. The maintenance of these machines cost crores of rupees to the GVMC. But negligence is pervasive in the sanitation works at every stage,” said
Murthy Yadav.
Later, GVMC officials reached out to the protesting corporator and offered to address the issues raised.
