alleged that the

officials resorted to environmental destruction in the name of reclaiming 71-acre land on the campus. Speaking to the media here on Monday, the 22nd ward corporator alleged that the university officials seem to be trying to privatise the lands. “All the greenery in these 71 acres was removed, including thousands of trees that could provide oxygen to as many as 1,278 people. Several water bodies were also removed in this process. The university officials claimed that this land became a place for antisocial activities due to overgrown trees and shrubs, and flattened the land by using heavy machinery. In this process, the university officials have caused a huge environmental destruction,” said
