City’s youth observe Human Rights Day
Visakhapatnam: A series of events were organised across the city to observe Human Rights Day on Tuesday. Youngsters from the city organised a campaign to highlight the contribution that the youth were making by participating in social movements to bring about change.
Mohammed Baji, founder of Youth Engagement said, “We are giving a universal call to action to stand up for human rights.

We aim to celebrate the potential of the youth as constructive agents of change, to amplify their voices and to engage with global audiences in the promotion and protection of rights.”
Meanwhile, the Bala Vikas Foundation for Peace and Harmony organised a special meeting to mark the day along with International Association for Religious Freedom (IARF). The meeting was organised at VSK Government Junior College in a bid to sensitise students about human rights.
The NSS unit of St Joseph’s College for Women organised a special awareness campaign making people aware of the basic human rights. A massive awareness rally was organised under the leadership of programme officer Dr K Manikya Kumari.
More than 135 students, teachers and non-teaching staff participated in the rally. Principal of the college Sister Shyji and vice-principal Sister Hema inaugurated the rally.
