City observes World Water Day

Visakhapatnam: A number of organisations observed World Water Day in the city on Tuesday.
On the occasion, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant formed a human chain at Technical Training Institute and near Central Stores Junction displaying water conservation messages to the employees.
Visakha Container Terminal (VCT) organised a walkathon from the VCT gate till the Old Post Office junction displaying innovative messages through placards.

The VCT staff also distributed pamphlets on ways to save water.
State Bank of India (SBI) and India Youth For Society (IYFS) jointly observed World Water Day at SBI's administrative Office at Siripuram on Tuesday. Former vice-chancellor of Nagarjuna University Prof V Balamohandas said that people must save water like they save money.
Harita Mitra Mandali and ISCUF (Indian Society for Cultural Cooperation and Friendship) jointly observed World Water Day near the Gandhi statue opposite GVMC office.
On the ocassion, Gangavaram Port Limited conducted an awareness programme for its employees on sustainable water harvesting techniques and responsible usage of water. The event was conducted by the environment department of the port with the objective of spreading the message that fresh water is a delicate and precious natural resource and essential to sustain the healthy existence of mankind. The Institution of Engineers (India), Visakhapatnam centre, observed World Water Day at Visvesvaraya Bhavan.
