P Narayana was arrested by Chittoor police from Hyderabad in connection with the SSC exams malpractice case on Tuesday. He was later shifted to Chittoor after a tense confrontation with Telangana police at the AP-Telangana border check-post.
Chittoor SP Y Rishanth Reddy told reporters that Narayana, who is also the founder of Narayana group of educational institutions, was arrested in connection with the SSC examinations malpractice case registered at Chittoor I town police station recently.
"Seven persons, including the vice-principal of Narayana school, have been arrested in the case so far. It has emerged during the course of investigation that there was a larger conspiracy at play and many persons, right from the invigilators to peons, were involved in the malpractice," he said.
"We are also probing the involvement of other educational institutions and will not spare anyone. It has emerged during the course of the investigation that there was an attempt to help students score higher marks in language papers by getting the question papers leaked," Rishanth Reddy said.
