Andhra Pradesh: People's organisations demand release of Bhima Koregaon case accused
VISAKHAPATNAM: Various people’s organisations demanded the police to release the arrested people's organisations leaders including adivasis, women, dalits and minorities unconditionally along with the 16 persons detained illegally in the Bhima Koregaon case. Scores of activists staged a protest at Gandhi statue on Monday and accused that around 30 activists of various people’s organisations were listed in the illegal cases by impositing UAPA Act, IPC and Andhra Pradesh Public Securities Act besides Arms Act. It is recalled that the cops of Munchingput in Visakhapatnam agency area registered an FIR against 64 persons along with the banned outfit CPI Maoists leaders including RK, Uday, Chalapati and Aruna. Out of 64 persons, around 30 are people's organisations leaders, they said. Human Right Forum (HFR) leader VS Krishna, Civil liberties leader T Sriramamurthy, advocates YV Balakrishna, A Annapoorna, KS Chalam and others. These advocates are trying for the release of around 700 people illegally listed in UAPA cases, Cops are now listed these advocates in the case which is against constitutional rights. “This is nothing but to suppress the voice of expression. The people’s organisations leaders including IFTU M Venkateswarlu, POW leader M Lakshmi. CLL leader PV Ramana CPM district secretary K Lokanatham, NFIW, CITU, AITUC leaders under the UAPA cancellation agitation committee staged a protest.
