VISAKHAPATNAM: Dr Aswini Kumar Betha, an alumnus of Andhra University who is currently working as technology licensing director at the University of Kansas, USA, visited the Centre for Human Genetics and Centre for IPR at Andhra University on Monday.

The alumnus of the university interacted with vice-chancellor Prof PVGD Prasad Reddy. Later, Prof Reddy said that the university is proud to see its alumnus at a top position at the Kansas University and requested Dr Kumar to collaborate with Andhra University in the areas of mutual interest.

The visit of Aswini Kumar to Andhra University draws some inspiration in the minds of budding researchers and also in the experienced scientists.Had the alumnus in question given a brief account of the unexplored areas in the field for scientists it would have helped Andhra University.Dr.Khorana of Punjab whose brain was unpolished in India came to limelight after his visit and research in US leading to the Nobel Prize In the recent past Dr.Ramakrishnan of Baroda was just a nonentity.His visit to Cambridge brought an acclaim for him due his Nobel Prize in Chemistry.During my Fulbright Felloship in 1989 I listened to the poetry reading sessions of Derek Walcott who was in my estimate was just an ordinary poet.He won Nobel Prize for literature.Let us encourage young minds.Let us see how Dr Mohan Reddy ,Vc of Au is going to conduct himself now
