Madhavadhara

and three other places in Vizag and Narapuram in

West Godavari

district. The professor was arrested and would be presented before the ACB court.

ACB DSP K Ramakrishna Prasad told mediapersons here on Friday that the professor of AMC, Vijaya Kumar, and medical and health wing engineer-in-chief P Panduranga Rao are business partners. Both are involved in constructing Ashwani Hospitals Private Limited in the

Health City

in Arilova on an area extending more than 3,500 square yards. The land was purchased from Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation.

For this construction, Vijaya Kumar and Panduranga Rao invested money from the accounts of their two daughters and two sons respectively. First they transferred the money to the account of Ashwani Hospitals Private Limited and then to APIIC for the purchase of land worth around Rs 5 crore.

The ACB DSP said around Rs 1 crore was spent on the construction activity so far. Vijaya Kumar transferred an amount of Rs 1.64 crore to the hospital account.

His assets include a two storied duplex house and a penthouse (400 sq. yards) in Madhavadhara, a business premises in doctors chamber in the city, a scooter, 2.6 kg gold ornaments, 3.8 kgs silver articles, a flat, a residential plot at Lankelapalem in Vizag and another residential plot in Kakinada on his wife

Vijaya Kumar started his career as a civil assistant surgeon in 1988 and worked at PHC in Konithiwada and Veervasaram in West Godavari district before he was transferred to AMC as assistant professor and promoted as professor in 2006.
