40 swimmers to ensure safety during idol immersion

Visakhapatnam: Vizag city police, with the support of fisheries department, will deploy 40 swimmers at various beaches (idol immersion places) across the city. This is to ensure that no untoward incidents are reported during the festival. The idol immersion will start from September 18 in Vizag city and it may continue till September 28. To ensure that idol immersion is hassle-free, the officials are also installing CCTV cameras and putting barricades for the public, along with other safety measures. The highest number of immersions will take place at RK Beach and Jodugullapalem beach in city. The district administration has been urging Ganesh mandals to go for small idols for easy immersion. City police said they have identified more than 10 locations (beach areas) where the people would be allowed to perform immersion of Ganesh idols this year. It is mandatory that the organisers must inform the police about their route map and location for the immersion of the idol. We will not allow immersion of the idol after 11 pm, police added. Around 2,500 Ganesh pandals were erected in Vizag city in 2019, but the number came down from 2020 due to the restrictions on account of Covid-19 pandemic. Police expect that around 1,000 Ganesh pandals, including some big pandals, will come up in Vizag city this time.

15 places identifed in city for immersion of Ganesha idols

Fifteen locations in Coimbatore have been designated for the immersion of Vinayagar idols on September 18th. Only individuals and organizations following the prescribed route map will be allowed to immerse their idols. The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, Coimbatore Corporation, and police department are urging the use of eco-friendly idols made of natural materials and discouraging the use of single-use plastics and chemical dyes. Rejected applications for idol installation may be appealed to higher authorities.

Allow Ganesh idol immersion in Aarey lake: VHP to Bombay HC

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has filed an application with the Bombay High Court, requesting it to stay its order that prohibits immersion of Ganesh idols in the Aarey Milk Colony in Mumbai. The VHP argues that the order goes against the rights of Hindus to celebrate their festivals. They claim that the Aarey lake has been used for immersion for a long time and that the sudden refusal to permit celebrations in the area would cause public outrage. The matter is set to be heard on Friday by the High Court.

Dist allows one more place to immerse idols

The district administration in Coimbatore has added Nagarajapuram Kulam to the list of water bodies where devotees can immerse Ganesha idols during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Permission has been granted to immerse the idols at a total of 15 water bodies across the district, with a focus on encouraging the use of eco-friendly idols made from natural materials. In Indore, the municipal corporation is considering the use of moving platforms to transport idols for immersion, aiming to reduce human intervention. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has approached the Bombay High Court to request a stay on its order regarding the immersion of Ganesh idols in Aarey Milk Colony.
