Tirupati: Tirupati district police wing has resolved to display zero tolerance to ganja smuggling and usage. Tirupati SP L Subbarayudu told reporters that the district police wing is enforcing a four-pronged strategy to completely eradicate ganja usage in this holy district, which is home to several world-renowned temples.
Subbarayudu elaborated that a series of awareness programmes will be conducted at schools, colleges and universities across the district to sensitise students on the ill effects of ganja usage. The district police wing has stepped up surveillance on ganja smuggling and has booked 16 repeated offenders under the PD Act.
The SP distributed ganja testing kits to the police personnel on Friday. Subbarayudu warned that people who test positive for ganja usage will come under the police radar.
