Youth dies as suicide prank goes wrong

Tirupati: In a bizarre incident, a 25-year-old was found dead after his suicide

prank

on a

video call

with his friend turned real at Damineedu colony in Tiruchanoor near Tirupati on Sunday.

According to Tiruchanoor inspector G Ashok, Siva Kumar, an unmarried

youth

working at a local automobile store, attempted a suicide prank on a video-call with his friend at his home at Damineedu colony in Tiruchanoor late on Sunday night.

“He was in a highly inebriated state when he video-called his friend. In a drunken state, he tied one end of a saree to his neck while the other end was fastened to the ceiling. He told his friend he was going to commit suicide and his friend thought Siva Kumar was just bluffing,” said Ashok.

Within minutes after Siva Kumar pulled his legs down, he was found trying to loosen the tightening noose around his neck but failed and was strangulated to death. The deceased’s friend immediately dialed 100 and informed the police.

The police have registered a case and shifted the body of the deceased to the government medical hospital in Tirupati for post-mortem.
