They said the council chairman should exercise his authority and make the marshals take instructions only from him and added that the speaker should not be allowed to dictate terms to council members and chairman. The MLCs went on to say said they have brought the issue to the notice of the speaker and council chairman on Tuesday.
However, the situation did not change on Wednesday as the marshals snatched away papers from them, alleged Sunitha.
“In spite of protests by us, similar incidents of harassment and humiliation were repeated today,” said the woman members.
They said the marshals closed the gate on them and misbehaved with them. the MLCs have gone on to demand that the council chairman initiates action against the marshals and suspends the chief marshal.
A delegation of TDP MLCs also wrote to the council chairman alleging that passes were being issued to assembly members and not given for visitors recommended by the council members. MLCs requested the council chairman to allow the media personnel to cover the council events irrespective of the speaker’s decision.
