VIJAYAWADA: A 28-year-old man was brutally killed by a woman with whom he was having a live-in relationship for the past six years in Tenali of Guntur district. The woman slit the man’s throat with a kitchen knife alleging he had been harassing her under the influence of alcohol.
According to Tenali rural police, Gadde Ramu (28), a labourer, was living with Tanniru Amani for about six years.
She had got separated from her husband and has a daughter and a son. Ramu was not married. They were living on a rented property at Kathevaram canal for the past two years. While Amani worked as a maid in the localality, Ramu worked as daily wage labour.
Amani was vexed with Ramu as he used to harass her daily after coming home drunk. On Friday night, when the duo had an altercation, an enraged Amani slit Ramu’s throat with a kitchen knife. He bled profusely and died on the spot.
She came out of the house in the middle of the night and told neighbours that three people came and beat Ramu to death. Police reached the spot
and detained and interrogated Amani. During the quizzing, she confessed to the crime. Police also recovered the knife used to commit the murder.
