Vizag police raid cockfights, nab 70

Visakhapatnam: Vizag city police conducted a raid and busted cockfights near Royal Gardens on the outskirts of Padmanabham on Sunday, nabbing over 70 people for participating in the illegal activity. The police seized ₹7.5 lakh in cash, eight fighting roosters, more than 10 bikes, and two cars from their possession. Acting on credible information about cockfights and betting operations, the city task force police, along with Padmanabham police, carried out a surprise raid and apprehended the organizers of the blood sport along with punters. Police noted that some groups have been organizing cockfights and gambling activities during weekends on the outskirts of Vizag city for the past few weeks. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
