Police also revealed that Kumar falsely claimed that he secured a rank in the APPSC Group-I examinations and was appointed as DSP. A few vernacular papers also published his supposed success. The first case against him was registered with the airport police station in July 2019, when he duped a youth of Rs 26,000 with a false job promise and issued a fake appointment order to him.
Recently, Fourth Town police booked him for posing as DSP of APSP 6th Battalion, Mangalagiri, and collecting Rs 11 lakh from a woman aspirant. When the victim realised that she had been cheated and demanded that he return the amount, he gave only Rs 5 lakh. Sources added that Kumar even visited the district police training centre in Nellore as a guest faculty before being exposed.
Police said the investigation is to establish the number of duped victims across the state. They also urged unemployed youth not to fall prey to fake job promises made by such fraudsters and asked them to report fraudsters by calling 7995095799.
