Vizag MP distributes TIDCO house keys in the West constituency
Visakhapatnam: The NDA government is committed to ensuring that poor families receive their houses at the earliest instead of seeking political credit over the TIDCO housing project, said Vizag MP M Sribharath. A programme for handing over house keys to TIDCO beneficiaries was held at Padmanabha Nagar in Visakhapatnam West constituency on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the MP said the government considers it its responsibility to hand over houses without further delay to beneficiaries who have been waiting for years to own a home.
In the Visakhapatnam West constituency, a total of 816 houses were constructed for Rs 71.52 crore. As part of the programme, keys were distributed to beneficiaries of 96 TIDCO houses built in two blocks at Padmanabha Nagar. Sribharath, along with local MLA P Ganababu and MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao, handed over the keys and later participated in the housewarming ceremony with the beneficiaries.
Sribharath said five valuable years were lost and alleged that the previous government delayed the completion of TIDCO houses due to political considerations, fearing that credit for the project would go to former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.
He pointed out that the TIDCO houses still carry colours associated with the YSRCP and remarked that if the present government too had political motives, it could have changed the colours again. “Our priority is to hand over houses to people on time rather than focus on political symbolism,” he said. Sribharath also criticised the previous government for spending public money on painting government buildings in party colours.
