Vizag collector extends Rs 1 lakh support to 2 Iranian students

Visakhapatnam: The district collector, Abhishikth Kishore, extended a helping hand to two women from Iran who came to Visakhapatnam for studies. He handed over a Rs 50,000 cheque from the district Sanjivani Nidhi and another Rs 50,000 cash from the Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Temple management at his chamber on Thursday evening.It is recalled that the two married Iranians, Jenab Mahmmadi and Soolmaz Mahmmadi, came for studies in Visakhapatnam and sought financial help from the district collector as they lost contact with their family members in war-stricken Iran. Both came to study pharmacy in a private college behind the ACA-VDCA cricket stadium four years ago. They were cheated by the agent of around Rs 7 lakh each during their admission time four years ago. They have completed their studies and are now doing an internship and will fly to Iran in a couple of months.Presently, the whereabouts of their family members are not traced in war-stricken Iran. The war between Iran and Israel-America put them into severe financial problems as they lost contact with their family members 10 days ago. They met the district officials on Wednesday evening, and collector Kishore responded within 24 hours. District officials already sent their request letter to the state and central govts for help in returning to Iran along with their three children.
