Gangadhar Reddy alias Kuwait Gangadhar Reddy (49), a witness in the murder case of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, died under suspicious circumstances on Thursday. He died at his home in Yadiki in Anantapur. Family members found him dead in bed and informed the police. A suspicious death case was registered based on complaint. Gangadhar Reddy was born in Pulivendula and he moved to Yadiki ten years ago. He was a key follower of Shivshankar Reddy, an accused in the Vivekananda Reddy murder case.
Gangadhar Reddy had testified before the CBI on October 2, 2021 in the Viveka murder case that Shivshankar Reddy had offered him `10 crore if he agreed to become an accused. He, however, refused to testify before the magistrate. Moreover, he later lodged a complaint with the Anantapur SP against the CBI officials.
Gangadhar Reddy had earlier complained to the police that he had a threat to his life in connection with the murder of Vivekananda Reddy. He lodged a complaint with the then Anantapur SP Fakirappa on November 29, 2021, claiming that he received kill threats from CBI. The complaint also alleged Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy was involved in Vivekananda Reddy murder case and he was pressurised by him and CBI officials.
The complaint stated that CBI officials forced him to admit that he killed Vivekananda Reddy. He made it clear at the time that he had nothing to do with the murder case. Fakirappa had said protection would be provided based on the complaint.
