Vijayawada Municipal Corporation suspends 10 officials

Vijayawada: Municipal commissioner G Veerapandian cracked the whip on 10 officials from the town planning department of VMC for irregularities in submission of files and suspended them from duties.
The commissioner on Tuesday issued the suspension orders to superintendents -- M Vijayalakshmi and K V Ramana, senior assistants G Sara Sasi Susan, K Lakshmana Rao and USH Venu Gopal, junior assistants K Esther Rani, P Madhusudhana Rao, G Maruthi Rao, Sudha Rani and K Devamani for dereliction of duties.
Veerapandian said that the officials had failed to submit important files pertaining to building plans, TDR bonds and others despite repeated warnings.
"They have even misplaced a few important files. Some of the files are not traceable. They have been suspended till the proceedings come to a conclusion," said the commissioner.
He said the decision has been taken in public interest.
