TIRUPATI: Notwithstanding the slash in liquor prices, interstate liquor smuggling continues unabated in

Chittoor district police on Wednesday arrested two persons and seized as many as 2,400 bottles of interstate liquor worth 5 lakh. The arrested have been identified as A Shoban Babu (49) and S Naresh (27).

and his team acted on credible information and conducted raids at

Tenebanda

locality in the town in the early hours on Wednesday.

During the exercise, police spotted a group of eight men unloading liquor from Karnataka state from a vehicle and tried to surround the suspects. However, six of the eight managed to escape while police arrested two.

Police seized 2,400 interstate liquor bottles of different brands. They also seized a car, an autorickshaw and a bike.
