TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Pedda Jeeyar Swamy in the accompaniment of Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and the Tirupati trust chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and deputy mayor Abhinay Reddy, inaugurated the "Bhoopiratti" road in the temple city of Tirupati on Sunday.
The Bhoopiratti road connects Tilak road to the Tataiahgunta Gangamma temple passing through Jabbar layout, Nawabpet and the central post office road in the city.
This 40 feet road was laid by the Tirupati municipal corporation by spending Rs 1.16 crore. Before road widening works were undertaken, this stretch only had a 10 feet road, which was touted as the narrowest road in Tirupati, and which remained as it is for nearly 7 decades.
Residents of Nawabpet, Jabbar colony etc thanked the Tirupati municipal corporation for completing the new road works within a short span of time.
Speaking to reporters later,
TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said the new road was named after Bhoopiratti-mother of Saint philosopher Sri Ramanujacharya.
Tirupati deputy mayor said that internal road infrastructure works were given a major boost in the temple city with the benign support of chief minister YS
Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Meanwhile, TTD chairman slammed critics for trying to stall the development works being undertaken to transform Tirupati into a world-class pilgrim centre by politicising every decision of the Tirupati trust.
