Fake money gang busted in Tirupati

Vijayawada: Tirupati police arrested four persons involved in circulating counterfeit currency across several areas in the state. The cops seized counterfeit notes and equipment valued about 2.36 lakh.
The suspects, including the main accused, Ramesh, and his family members, had learnt how to print fake notes by watching YouTube tutorials. Police confiscated a large number of fake 100 and 500 notes, uncut sheets of counterfeit currency, and a car used for its transportation.
According to Puttur DSP Ravi Kumar, the accused used counterfeit currency in local shops. Based on a tip-off from a shop owner, police on Saturday night reviewed CCTV footage. Later, they arrested Ramesh and his stepdaughter, Isha, who were attempting to exchange fake currency.
Ramesh, originally from Yelahanka in Bengaluru, had married one Sandhya, and they settled in Tirupati. Following financial losses in stock market and difficulties in finance business during the Covid-19 lockdown, Ramesh connected with Munikrishna Rao from Srikakulam on Facebook. They attempted stock market investments together, incurring further losses, which led them to counterfeit currency as a quick money-making solution.
