TIRUPATI: Five youngsters involved in the illegal smuggling of prohibited ganja substances were arrested by the Chandragiri police near
Tirupati on Tuesday.
The accused were identified as
Tharun (25), Dileep Kumar (25), Gunasagar (21), Akhil Reddy (21) and Harsha (23). Police are on the lookout for four more youngsters who managed to evade arrests.
According to Chandragiri police, the five youngsters pursuing their degrees got addicted to ganja during the lockdown and later got involved in the illegal ganja trade.
The gang used to procure one kg of Ganja at Rs.5000 from Bhimavaram in West Godavari district and used to sell them to college students in 50 gram packets at the rate of Rs.500 each.
Chandragiri police have registered a case and are further investigating.
