Nehru's son Avinash lit the pyre while hundreds of followers shouted 'Johar Nehru, amar rahe Nehru' slogans. Thousands of followers and TDP activists were present at the farmhouse near Gunadala where the last rites of the former minister were performed.

All the party leaders and legislators from Krishna district attended the final journey held from his residence to the farmhouse, located 3 km away. It took nearly three hours for the procession to reach the farmhouse due to the heavy rush.
