TDP leadership sets focus on Gannavaram, Gudivada in Krishna
Vijayawada: TDP has set its eyes on two constituencies in Krishna district for 2024 general election. The party leadership and the cadre have set their eyes on Gudivada and Gannavaram assembly segments. While Gudivada seat is now represented by former minister and YSRCP MLA Kodali Nani, Gannavaram was won by TDP’s Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan in 2019.After the election Vamsi moved closer to the ruling party and is now an associate MLA of the YSRCP. He is likely to be renominated by the ruling party for 2024.The two MLAs have become thorns in the TDP flesh as they hurl abuses at N Chandrababu Naidu and his son, Nara Lokesh, all the time. They mince no words in hitting back at Naidu and Lokesh.TDP leaders have been working closely with the party leadership to defeat these two MLAs. Several Kamma leaders from the party are polarising against these two and hate them to the core.In Gannavaram, the party found Vamsi’s rival and former YSRCP candidate, Yarlagadda Venkatrao, as the party candidate to challenge Vamsi again. Venkatrao lost the 2019 general election to Vamsi by 38 votes. This time he is firm on winning the seat and the TDP leadership is going all out in Venkatrao’s support.Naidu and Lokesh have already blessed Venktrao and announced his candidature for the coming election. Lokesh took him around during his Yuva Galam padayatra in the constituency and dared Vamsi to face him in the next election. However, the party is yet to name its candidate for Gudivada. Former MLA and constituency in-charge Ravi Venkateswara Rao has been working for the party here. He lost the election twice from here, once on TDP ticket and second time on PRP ticket. This time he is firm on contesting the election. But the party leadership is looking for some new face.In 2019, the party fielded former minister Devineni Nehru’s son, Avinash, but Nani got the highest majority in the election. Nani contested and won four subsequent elections since 2004, twice as TDP candidate and twice as YSRCP candidate.
