TDP decides to take part in NDA cabinet at Centre

VIJAYAWADA: TDP is likely to join the BJP-led NDA govt at the Centre. Sources said party president N Chandrababu Naidu has made up his mind that his party will join the Union cabinet this time. Naidu left NDA cabinet in 2018 in support of the demand for special category status to Andhra Pradesh, the promise made at the time of bifurcation of the state. He led a strong protest during those days against the BJP leadership for not granting special category status.

After six years, Naidu returned to NDA and won the assembly elections as well. He is forming his own govt with representatives from Jana Sena and BJP in the cabinet.

He is also looking at joining the central cabinet and is likely to propose the name of Srikakulam MP K Rammohan Naidu as a minister. He is also likely to recommend the name of Hindupur MP BK Pardhasarathi.

The names of Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, and Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy are also doing rounds for Union cabinet. P Ashok Gajapathi Raju and YS Chowdary were cabinet ministers from TDP in NDA (2014-2018). Naidu was part of NDA cabinet two times in 1999, and 2014. This would be his third stint with NDA as ally. Sources said Naidu is also asking for deputy speaker post.
