SVU ranks fifth in country, says Ganta
Tirupati: As many as 1,031 students were conferred degrees under various courses during the 56th and 57th Convocation of Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati on Sunday.
Listing out the achievements of Sri Venkateswara University at Srinivasa Auditorium on the campus, vice-chancellor A Damodaram said the university achieved several milestones and secured several ranks nationally and internationally in the last three years.

‘The university stood at 801-1,000 rank bracket in Times Higher Education World Universities’ Ranking. We have successfully hosted the 104th Indian Science Congress, 99th Indian Economic Association annual conference, 91st annual general meeting of All India Vice-Chancellors, Gnana Bheri Programme in AP in which over 20,000 students took part’, said the SVU VC.
For the first time in the history of the university, the central government sanctioned Rs 100 crore under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for improving infrastructure and accommodation facilities at the varsity, research and academics. So far, Rs 20 crore has been released for strengthening various research programmes at the university.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh HRD minister Ganta Srinivas Rao who took part in the convocation as the special guest of honour lauded the efforts of the varsity in achieving a coveted place in the field of higher education and university global rankings in the recent times. “SVU stood 5th in the country for its high percentage share of international publications. The university has won top rankings among the world universities under several categories,” appreciated the minister.
The president of Shri Ram Chandra Mission Kamlesh D Patel was conferred an honorary degree - Honorus Causa by SVU on Sunday. Addressing the students, Kamlesh underlined the need for value based education in the modern world. He called upon the students to take up meditation,
