SC notices to Bhaskar Reddy, CBI

Vijayawada: The Supreme Court on Friday issued notices to Y S Bhaskar Reddy and the CBI in the petition filed by Dr Sunitha Nerreddy, seeking directions to cancel the bail granted to him in her father Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder case. Bhaskar, father of YSRCP MP Y S Avinash Reddy, was arraigned as one of the accused in the case. He was charged with conspiracy and sabotaging the crime scene to erase evidence. The Telangana high court earlier granted him interim bail on medical grounds, and later a regular bail was granted.
Arguing that there was no change of circumstances in the case from the arrest of Bhaskar, Sunitha stated that he could influence the witnesses if enlarged on bail. She earlier filed petitions seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Avinash and D Siva Shankar Reddy, who are also accused in the case. Considering the petition, the SC bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar issued notices to the respondents to file counters and posted the matter for further hearing to March.
Former MP Vivekananda Reddy was found murdered in his house at Pulivendula in March 2019. The case was investigated by the police and subsequently transferred to the CBI following a direction from the high court. The CBI has said that Avinash and Bhaskar were involved in the conspiracy hatched to kill Viveka.
